Cruise

«Well, I’m walking home from work.
I hear a noise, like: tr-tr-tr,
as if a helicopter is flying somewhere...
Then a flash! He’s taking pictures,
riding on his damn board.»

The series «Cruise» represents a collision of two identities of the artist. The first is Ivan the escapist, swiftly racing through the evening city on a skateboard. The second is Ivan the documentary photographer, striving to capture this skateboarder’s assault on the reality of passersby. «Cruise» is also the artist’s tribute to skateboarding, an effort to make the skater’s experience visible within his artistic practice. «Cruise» is the point where the conflict between the two identities ceases to exist, and the dichotomy between the camera and the skateboard dissolves.
